Quality  Materials & Tools

All our memorials are carefully crafted from the very best granite and, like all natural materials, please bear in mind there will be some colour variations. We do our best to ensure colour consistency and often invest in large blocks in advance, which allows us to provide the best possible colour match when we are asked to add extra pieces onto existing memorials.

We test all our granites for porosity and refuse to be compromised on quality. If certain granites don’t meet our standards we will not supply them, as is the case with most light grey granite, which holds water and will not stand the test of time as well as other colours.

In addition to using top quality granite for our memorials, we also now use granite plinths instead of concrete or terrazzo to anchor the headstone. This is not only more visually pleasing but, as granite bonds better with itself than alternative materials, it is much longer lasting and requires no ongoing maintenance.

We spend a great deal of time sourcing supplies from around the world, primarily Scandinavia, South Africa, China and India and buy direct in order to keep costs down and improve delivery times.

Our trained and highly-skilled engravers, who have won the highest industry awards for design and letter cutting, use the latest equipment and techniques to deliver the best possible results. Our new Diamond Impact Etching machine enables us to personalise memorials with not just letters, but more personalised etched images. The diamond etching enables a slightly deeper cut and does not “burn” the granite, as can be the case with laser etching.

New technology means almost any shape can now be commercially produced and we encourage families to talk to us about anything they would like to see as we believe we can meet their wishes.
